The slate that mixes business with pleasure
Microsoft went big on games at E3 in June and now, over in Germany, it has gone even bigger at Gamescom by naming 23 launch titles, 50 Xbox One titles in total, and revealing that European gamers who pre-order the console will get FIFA 14 in the box.
Sticking with EA’s hotly anticipated football sim and Microsoft also announced that FIFA 14 Ultimate Team – featuring legends like Freddie Ljungberg and Ruud Gullit – will only be available on Xbox One.
Of the 50 announced titles, 38% are exclusive to Xbox One, 37% are brand-new IP and 44% will include either timed or exclusive content.
Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin, took to Cologne stage to reveal that Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One will use Xbox Live Cloud hosting to provide dedicated servers for multiplayer matches. He said this would mean the best multiplayer experience will be on the next-gen Xbox. He also stated that gamers will get all downloadable content for Call of Duty: Ghosts first on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Finally, the keynote was used to share details on a new program for independent developers, called ID@Xbox, which enables game developers of all shapes and sizes to build, publish and sell their games digitally on Xbox One.
